Arlene D. Pilcer founded SETTERWOODS DOG TRAINING  in 1996. Her qualifications in behavior and competition training are vast. In 1992 Arlene became a USTTA temperament judge, in 1993 she became a Tester/Observer for the Therapy Dogs Inc. national organization, in 1997 Arlene began testing dogs as an Evaluator for the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test. Arlene founded and organized a local therapy dog group in January of 2006 called PAWS FOR CARING. She also appeared frequently on the Let's Talk Pets TV program for the SPCA of Martinsville/Henry County in Va.

Arlene & Peter have been members of the Irish Setter Club of America since 1990. Being true to their Code of Ethics they selectively breed show & performance Irish Setters. Arlene completed her "Ultimate Start Puppy Program" from day three DVD/ Workbook in 2008. In her continuing effort to educate children, Arlene created the "Quality of Life" responsible dog ownership program which she presents to the local  elementary schools.

In 2008 Arlene saw the growing need for health advise and although she gives a good foundation in her classes concerning diet and natural alternatives she decided to do more. She now offers health consultations during which she uses kinesiology testing.

Together Arlene & Peter have titled numerous dogs in AKC, CKC and UKC, competing in Breed, Obedience, Rally, Agility and Hunting.

Through Peter's efforts along with the support of Arlene and their students, SWDT is now the home of AGILITY CLUB OF CHATHAM VIRGINIA. The ACCV was licensed and approved by the AKC in 2003. We hold Agility, Obedience and Rally Trials.
